Hello! My name is Rebecca and I am dedicated to fostering a safe and nonjudgmental space rooted in patience and empowerment. Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is essential when exploring yourself and together we will cultivate a collaborative environment that nurtures trust and warmth.
I specialize in art therapy so I believe art can be used for self-expression, processing emotions, and as a way to help meet your goals. It can be used as a jumping off point for discussion or alternative for words. You don’t need to have any prior art experience for art therapy to be helpful. It is all about the process and how art brings internal thoughts and emotions to the surface. I truly believe you, the client, are the expert in your own experience. I am not there to interpret your work; I am there to be curious and learn from you. If art therapy feels intimidating, we can start with materials you feel comfortable with or participate in traditional talk therapy. In combination with art therapy I utilize person-centered and feminist approaches along with somatic techniques and mindfulness as a way to promote healing and wellness. My specialties include emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, stress management, identity exploration, trauma and grief work, and body image and self-esteem. Additionally, I have an interest in working with teenagers and young adults who are experiencing difficulties, along with people who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ population, but also work with all age groups and anyone interested in art therapy.
Experience
I have experience working with teenagers, parents, and young adults who are dealing with stress, trauma, self-esteem, transitions, and emotional regulation along with depression and anxiety. I really enjoy working with teenagers and young adults because I believe this generation fosters a lot of creativity, strength, and originality. I also previously worked at a Chicago public school and have been privileged to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This experience allows me to embrace the uniqueness of each person’s background and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.
