Advanced Doctoral Practicum Student

We will follow the ACEPT process in early 2026 for the next cohort of Advanced Practicum trainees in Clinical or Counseling Psy.D./Ph.D. programs.

At Balanced Awakening, we’re passionate about empowering women, couples, and teen girls through holistic psychotherapy—and we're equally passionate about supporting emerging clinicians in growing into confident, connected, and skilled therapists.

Ideal Applicants

This advanced practicum is designed for doctoral students in clinical or counseling psychology who already have a solid foundation in providing psychotherapy and are ready to take the next step in their clinical development.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Are passionate about working with higher-functioning clients, including professional women

  • Are looking to deepen your psychotherapy skills in a supportive private practice setting

  • Thrive with a balance of independent clinical work and rich supervision

  • Want a training experience that is tailored to your clinical interests and strengths

  • Bring life experience, a prior career in mental health, or master’s-level work into your doctoral journey (bonus points if this is a second career!)

Our Supervision Philosophy

Our approach to supervision is relational, personalized, and grounded in helping you find your authentic voice as a therapist. Supervision is designed to:

  • Provide a strong foundation in third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies (e.g., ACT, DBT)

  • Integrate mind-body approaches, exploring how somatic experiences and early development shape adult functioning

  • Expose trainees to somatic therapies, Imago Relationship Therapy, and other integrative modalities used in our practice

  • Support you in developing the clinical flexibility and presence needed for deep, transformational work with women and families

Trainees participate in weekly individual and group supervision and receive ongoing feedback in a supportive and collaborative environment.
