Balanced Awakening is a psychologist-led boutique psychotherapy practice serving women, couples, and teen girls. We specialize in empowering those on the female-identified spectrum through depth-oriented, holistic therapy. Our team is especially known for work in Somatic Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, and supporting moms through all stages of parenthood.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist
At Balanced Awakening, we do things differently. We are a boutique, psychologist-led psychotherapy practice with a heart-centered, growth-oriented culture where clinicians are supported in doing deep, meaningful work — without burnout.
We are currently welcoming applications from Licensed Clinical Psychologists (PsyD or PhD) who are passionate about psychotherapy, value alignment and sustainability, and are seeking a well-supported, abundant practice environment.
This role is especially well-suited for psychologists who are established in their clinical work — including those who have recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship — and are interested in practicing within a setting that offers strong infrastructure, autonomy, and opportunities for long-term growth.

Qualifications
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PsyD or PhD) in Illinois, or license-eligible and actively pursuing licensure
Recent completion of a postdoctoral fellowship welcomed, particularly in private or group practice settings
Experience providing outpatient psychotherapy; private or group practice experience strongly valued
Primary clinical focus in psychotherapy
Comfortable sustaining — or transitioning into — a full outpatient caseload with support
Strong clinical judgment, ethical grounding, and professional boundaries

Postdoctoral Resident
Our current postdoctoral residency positions are filled.
We will begin accepting applications for our next Conscious Integrative Psychotherapy Residency through the upcoming APPIC cycle, with applications due January 2027.

About Our Postdoctoral Residency Program
Since 2018, we’ve had the joy of training 13 outstanding postdoctoral residents—many of whom have continued to thrive in private practice and advanced clinical roles.
At Balanced Awakening, postdoctoral residents are welcomed as integral members of our team, joining us as W-2 employees with a full caseload and a robust, thoughtfully structured training experience. Our goal is to help you grow into your next-level clinical self with depth, confidence, and abundance.
Residents carry a full-time caseload of approximately 25 client hours per week, with an additional 15 hours dedicated to supervision, training, documentation, and care coordination. The residency is designed to help you refine your therapeutic voice and build the foundation for a thriving, balanced professional life.

A $2,000 training stipend to support outside training, workshops, books, courses, and certifications that fuel your clinical and professional development

Program Structure
This is a 2,000-hour postdoctoral residency, structured to meet licensure requirements in Illinois while supporting future mobility across most U.S. states.
The position is full-time (35–40 hours/week) and designed to provide the comprehensive training, community, and flexibility you need to step confidently into your next professional chapter.
