Join Our Team

Hello fellow healers with a psychology background! We’d like to hear from you if what we are doing at Balanced Awakening speaks to you.

Please submit a cover letter and CV to hyang@balanced-awakening.com to be considered for a position below.

Clinical Psychologist, LCSW, LCPC

Currently Accepting Applications for a January 2025 Start Date

As a growing group psychotherapy practice for women, we are looking for psychotherapists to join our team and diversify & expand services for our clients. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves seeing psychotherapy clients full-time and wants to deepen their capacities as a healer. We are seeking candidates who are licensed or pre-licensed psychologists, or who have a full LCSW or LCPC license to practice in Illinois. Please note that we are not able to consider LPCs or LSWs for this position, but if this describes you at this time, check out our fellowship opportunities below.

See if you resonate with any of our current plans for expansion:

  • We’re growing our couples therapy presence with Imago Relationship Therapy. We plan to have another in-house Imago Therapist training starting in late 2024 or early 2025 for any therapists on our team who would like to be trained in Imago.

  • Somatic therapy of all kinds is popular! If you are someone who is interested in Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi Mindful Somatic Therapy, Yoga Therapy, Brainspotting, and more, we’d like to bring more of these modalities to our clients.

  • We’d love to have a therapist on board who incorporates David Elliott-style breathwork into their sessions. As such, we’d be supportive of a new hire being trained in this modality.

  • We have supervision opportunities for licensed clinicians at this time, especially for Licensed Psychologists to participate in supervision of our Postdocs and Advanced Practicum Students

  • Art therapy is in demand. We are particularly interested right now in a fully certified art therapist who is interested in providing art therapy supervision to our clinical fellows.

  • Therapy for moms is one of our specialties. If you are someone who has a Certification in Perinatal Mental Health or have specific interest in training in parenting counseling, or would like to pursue this, consider joining us.

  • Bring us a new idea! We are happy to learn about how your clinical passion might benefit our clients.

Currently, we are hiring full-time (25+ client hours/week) for hybrid positions that include 2-3 days of seeing clients in person at one of our offices (Lakeview, Andersonville, or Downtown). The rest of the week/your clients can be seen virtually from your home. If you prefer to be in the office for more days, we can also arrange that.

We are seeking clinicians who are excited to be a part of our broader mission for the longer term and want to match the investment that Balanced Awakening makes in our clinicians to provide top-notch therapy and healing services.

Benefits Include:

  • Competitive pay, with no upper limit (no max clients you can see), based on revenue generated

  • Minimum guaranteed pay for the first 3 months as you are building your caseload

  • BCBS PPO health insurance with practice contribution

  • 401k with an automatic (nonelective) contribution made on your behalf

  • PTO, sick leave, and allowed time off

  • Life, long-term, and short-term disability insurance

  • Dental and vision plan options

  • Training stipend + in-house training opportunities

  • Team events, group client consultation, and exposure to new healing modalities

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of your ideal psychotherapy clients (25+ per week as full-time with benefits).

  • Complete notes in our EHR for each client session.

  • Manage your email so that emails are attended to within 48 of your working hours.

  • Participate in an hourly quarterly (4x's year) team meeting and enjoy lunch with the team.

  • Maintain your license by completing necessary CEUs, engaging in ethical behavior, etc.

  • Otherwise, be who you’d like to be as a therapist and member of our team!

Qualifications

  • Licensed Psychologist/LCPC/LCSW/LMFT in the state of IL.

  • A curiosity about healing in general, with some specific areas that you’d like to explore in depth.

  • A passion for providing psychotherapy to some of the populations we serve.

  • A resonance with our mission to empower women and provide integrative and cutting-edge healing modalities alongside more traditional psychotherapy.

  • A commitment to self-care and keeping your own life running optimally.

Practicum Student

We have matched with our 2024-25 cohort. We will follow the ACEPT process in early 2025 for the next cohort of Advanced Practicum trainees in Clinical or Counseling Psy.D./Ph.D. programs.

Ideal Applicants

We’re all about empowering women through psychotherapy and expanding our capacities as healers, so if this is work that resonates with you, you could be a good fit! We’re seeking advanced practicum students with a solid existing foundation is providing psychotherapy. Bonus points if you’re in this field as a second career or already have been working at the masters level in the field prior to returning to school for your doctorate degree. Ideal candidates for this practicum have an interest in working with higher-functioning clients (many times professional women) and deepening their psychotherapy skills. Ideal candidates are comfortable working fairly independently (with the necessary supervision and training in place of course) and welcome the opportunity to have their training tailored to their needs and interests.

Supervision Philosophy

Our supervision philosophy revolves around tailoring supervision to the needs of each supervisee as well as providing a broad foundation for conducting psychotherapy with women across the lifespan in the private practice setting. Supervision consists of a foundation based on third wave cognitive behavioral therapy as well as integration of mind-body therapies and how early development impacts current functioning. Trainees will also have the opportunity to learn about somatic therapies and Imago Relationship Therapy.
