Balanced Awakening is a psychologist-led boutique psychotherapy practice serving women, couples, and teen girls. We specialize in empowering those on the female-identified spectrum through depth-oriented, holistic therapy. Our team is especially known for work in Somatic Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, and supporting moms through all stages of parenthood.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

We're currently seeking a Licensed Psychologist who is passionate about deep therapeutic work, wants to maintain an ideal caseload of 25+ clients per week, and is excited to take part in a thriving, mission-driven team.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with our warm and organized admin team to build and maintain a full-time caseload of 25+ weekly psychotherapy clients
Deliver high-quality, client-centered therapy that aligns with your clinical strengths and passions
Engage in specialty-aligned work, such as somatic therapy, trauma recovery, Imago Relationship Therapy, maternal mental health, and more
Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and practice development events that nourish both clinical skill and community connection
Maintain timely and professional documentation in accordance with best practices and ethical standards
Take part in abundance-focused onboarding, including completing the RTT for Abundance Quest via Mindvalley
Contribute to our practice culture of joy, abundance, and authenticity, and stay connected to the aspects of therapy that bring you the most meaning and fulfillment
If of interest, provide individual and group supervision to doctoral practicum students and postdoctoral fellows, fostering growth in the next generation of therapists
Qualifications
Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Illinois (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) — or license eligible and actively pursuing licensure
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred (postdoc experience can count), and previous private practice experience is even better
Interest in or openness to somatic therapy approaches; training or experience is a plus but not required
Eager to build and sustain a caseload of 25+ psychotherapy clients per week with the support of our admin team
Strong clinical judgment, professional boundaries, and commitment to ethical practice
A growth-oriented mindset and a passion for personal development—bonus points if you’re excited about Mindvalley, RTT, or similar frameworks

Strong clinical judgment, ethical grounding, and clear professional boundaries

About Our Postdoctoral Residency Program
Since 2018, we've had the joy of training 11 outstanding postdocs—many of whom have gone on to thrive in private practice and advanced clinical roles. At Balanced Awakening, postdoctoral residents are integrated into our team as W-2 employees with a full caseload and robust training experience to support your growth as a grounded, empowered therapist.
You’ll carry a full-time caseload of ~25 client hours/week and spend approximately 15 additional hours on documentation, supervision, training, and care coordination. Our aim is to help you grow into your next-level clinical self with depth, support, and abundance.
What You’ll Receive in This Role
Weekly individual supervision with our Postdoc Training Director
Weekly group supervision with fellow postdocs
A $2,000 training stipend to support outside training, workshops, books, courses, and certifications that fuel your clinical and professional development
Participation in our monthly Inspired Healing virtual gathering, where you’ll be introduced to diverse healing modalities both within and complementary to psychotherapy

What We’re Looking For
We love training postdocs who are passionate about working with women, couples, and teen girls, and who are excited to explore holistic or body-based approaches to psychotherapy.
We are especially interested in applicants who already have, or would love to pursue, training in:
Imago Relationship Therapy
Somatic Experiencing
Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy
EMDR or Brainspotting
Breathwork or mindfulness-based techniques
Postpartum & perinatal mental health
Any integrative or spiritually-informed modality that brings depth and dimension to psychotherapy
Program Structure
This is a 2,000-hour postdoctoral residency, structured to meet licensure requirements in Illinois while supporting future professional mobility across most U.S. states. The position is full-time (35–40 hours/week) and designed to provide the comprehensive support you need to step confidently into your next professional chapter.

Fellows are full members of our team, employed as W-2 employees with full benefits, and work in a structure similar to our postdoctoral residency program.
As a Fellow, you’ll build a full-time caseload of ~25 weekly client hours and spend approximately 15 hours per week on training, supervision, documentation, and care coordination. You’ll also receive individualized guidance and robust opportunities to grow your skills and confidence as a psychotherapist.
What You’ll Love About This Role
A two-year full-time fellowship designed to support the 3,000 supervised clinical hours needed for LCPC licensure in Illinois

We will follow the ACEPT process in early 2026 for the next cohort of Advanced Practicum trainees in Clinical or Counseling Psy.D./Ph.D. programs.

Our Supervision Philosophy
Our approach to supervision is relational, personalized, and grounded in helping you find your authentic voice as a therapist. Supervision is designed to:
Provide a strong foundation in third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies (e.g., ACT, DBT)
Integrate mind-body approaches, exploring how somatic experiences and early development shape adult functioning
Expose trainees to somatic therapies, Imago Relationship Therapy, and other integrative modalities used in our practice
Support you in developing the clinical flexibility and presence needed for deep, transformational work with women and families
Trainees participate in weekly individual and group supervision and receive ongoing feedback in a supportive and collaborative environment.
