Hello, I’m Paichence Maze (she/her), and if you’re here, it likely means you’re considering beginning—or continuing—your journey toward healing. That alone is meaningful, and it means you’ve already taken an important first step. The pursuit of self-discovery can feel vulnerable, overwhelming, and at times exhausting, and my goal is to support that process through nonjudgmental curiosity, validation, and gently challenging negative self-talk when needed.
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, empirically supported, empathetic, and humorous (if I may say so myself!). I believe healing happens best when therapy feels both safe and authentic, so together we’ll move at a pace that feels intentional while building toward the goals that matter most to you. Whether our work involves processing experiences that feel too heavy to carry alone, navigating life transitions, or strengthening emotional regulation skills, I aim to meet you exactly where you are—with compassion, honesty, and unconditional positive regard.
Working across the lifespan and within a variety of treatment settings has allowed me to approach therapy from a place of nuance. While our experiences may share similarities, our emotional experiences are rarely black and white. It’s important to me not only to listen effectively, but also to help you expand your emotional vocabulary in ways that decrease internal confusion and lessen the feeling of being misunderstood by others.
I enjoy working with adults across the lifespan, from emerging adulthood through middle adulthood, as they navigate identity exploration, relationship challenges, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. I’m particularly passionate about supporting individuals at the intersection of neurodivergence, disordered eating, body image concerns, and the lived experiences of BIPOC individuals. My approach to disordered eating and body image-related concerns is rooted in HAES (Health at Every Size) principles and centers compassion, body respect, and sustainable healing over shame or perfectionism.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a space where you don’t have to filter yourself or have everything figured out before showing up. Healing is not about becoming a different person—it’s about understanding yourself more fully, building a more compassionate relationship with yourself, and creating space for growth that feels genuine and sustainable.
Experience
I’ve worked with individuals across a variety of treatment settings, including private practice, inpatient hospitals and treatment facilities, as well as IOP and PHP levels of care. These experiences have strengthened my ability to meet clients with flexibility, nuance, and compassion across different stages of healing and levels of support.
In therapy, I value pairing humor and psychoeducation with practical, evidence-based tools to help clients feel both understood and empowered in their growth. My clinical approach is integrative and tailored to each individual’s needs, drawing from modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Narrative Therapy.
