Many people come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, misunderstood, or disconnected from themselves in ways they can’t fully explain yet. I’m Paichence Maze (she/her), and I aim to support that process with empathy, nonjudgmental curiosity, and space for you to show up exactly as you are. Self-discovery can feel vulnerable, overwhelming, and at times exhausting. My goal is to help you better understand yourself while gently challenging the negative self-talk, shame, or survival patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, empathetic, relational, and humorous (if I may say so myself!). I believe therapy works best when it feels both safe and genuine, so together we’ll move at a pace that feels intentional while building toward the goals that matter most to you. Whether our work involves processing trauma, navigating anxiety or depression, exploring body image concerns, strengthening emotional regulation skills, or moving through difficult life transitions, I aim to meet you with compassion, honesty, and unconditional positive regard.
I primarily enjoy working with women-identifying individuals navigating trauma, eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, emotional overwhelm, anxiety, depression, and identity exploration. I’m also passionate about supporting neurodivergent and BIPOC individuals as they work toward a deeper understanding of themselves, their needs, and what support and community can look like in their lives.
My therapeutic style is person-centered, direct, intentional, and collaborative. I integrate relational therapy, motivational interviewing, DBT, mindfulness, and skills-based interventions into my work with clients. I often begin sessions with grounding exercises or mindfulness techniques to help clients settle into the space and reconnect with themselves before moving into deeper work.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a space where you don’t have to filter yourself or have everything figured out before showing up. Healing is not about becoming a different person—it’s about understanding yourself more fully, building a more compassionate relationship with yourself, and creating space for growth that feels genuine and sustainable.
Experience
I’ve worked with individuals across a variety of treatment settings, including private practice, inpatient hospitals and treatment facilities, as well as IOP and PHP levels of care. These experiences have strengthened my ability to meet clients with flexibility, nuance, and compassion across different stages of healing and levels of support.
In therapy, I value pairing humor and psychoeducation with practical, evidence-based tools to help clients feel both understood and empowered in their growth. My clinical approach is integrative and tailored to each individual’s needs, drawing from modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Narrative Therapy.
