You are the author of your own life. As your therapist, my role is to guide you in writing a story that feels authentic. Together, we will build awareness of the thought and behavior patterns that are keeping you stuck and assess your readiness to begin moving forward.
My approach to therapy is centered around the belief that you are the expert in your own life and can be described as curious, empathetic, validating, and non-judgmental. From this perspective, my goal is to help you identify and harness your inherent strengths to make choices that facilitate greater meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. While I have experience working with a wide variety of clinical presentations, I am particularly passionate about anxiety and related disorders as well as couples work.
Anxiety can manifest in many ways. Sometimes our fear visibly holds us back from the lives we envision, while other times, remains hidden beneath the surface. Regardless of presentation, my passion lies in uncovering the root cause of fear and determining tangible actions to move forward. My areas of clinical speciality include perfectionism, low self-esteem, identity development/exploration, obsessive compulsive disorder, and family of origin conflict. I enjoy guiding adults of all ages, from emerging to middle-aged, through various life changes and transitions and am particularly interested in challenges pertaining to motherhood and parenting.
My approach to couples work mirrors that of my individual work. You are the expert in your relationship and what is best for you. Whether this means coming together to work through challenges or agreeing to step away when needs continue to be unmet, I strive to create a supportive environment in which both partners can be equally heard and validated. My areas of clinical specialty with couples include communication issues, intimacy/mismatched desire, life transitions, and relationship stagnation/loss of connection.
Experience
I have experience in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization settings and draw on various modalities in my clinical approach, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Theory, and Exposure and Response Prevention. I have training in the Gottman Method, Emotion Focused Therapy and Sex Therapy, and am actively pursuing education in Imago Therapy for couples.
