Kim Bachelor, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Everyone’s reason for seeking the support of a professional therapist is unique, and the decision to do so isn’t always easy. Whatever reason brought you here, and wherever you are in your journey, I hope that you feel proud of yourself for taking this step. The idea of talking to a stranger about your most private thoughts and feelings may seem overwhelming, but please know that I would be honored to get to know you and support you in your journey towards healing and growth.

I have worked with individuals, families, and couples facing a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship struggles, and past or present trauma. I understand the impact these and other concerns can have on a person’s life and their relationships. My main goal is to help you feel better and gain a sense of control over whatever may be causing you to seek support. For some this may involve looking back at their childhood and the significant relationships influencing who they have become. Others may be searching for new behaviors or routines that make getting through the day easier. Those facing relationship complications may want or need to learn better communication skills or how to have stronger boundaries. We will work together to identify what you want to focus on and what type of support works best for you.

With compassion, honesty, and a non-judgmental ear, I create trusting relationships with my clients and ensure they have a safe space to explore the difficulties they are facing in life or in their relationships. My approach to helping clients is influenced by a diverse collection of research within the field of psychotherapy, and I am also greatly inspired by the area of neuroscience and the understanding of how our brain’s evolution has impacted how we as humans think, feel, behave, and heal. Just as no two people are alike, neither are the tools or guidance needed to create lasting change. By taking the time to know you and understand your story, I am able to customize therapeutic interventions that meet your specific needs.

Experience

I have worked in both in-patient and out-patient settings providing direct care to children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I have held positions in medical settings, shelter environments, and community-based counseling that allowed me to help clients facing a diverse set of issues. My work has provided me with an opportunity to support clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds and a deep understanding of the complexities associated with one’s culture and their mental health. My extensive training and experience has created a deep understanding of the human experience and how I can best help others.
